Volvo S60 models received new updates during the 2023 model year, highlighted by a new exterior design and improved connectivity features. The 2023 Volvo S60 features a sleek design, revised engines and technology, and many other features that make it one of the year's most anticipated cars. It's built to last and has better performance and fuel economy than its predecessor, thanks to a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Modifications to the front and rear bumpers' designs and some new wheel styles are the most noticeable external alterations.
The S60's new interior centerpiece is the huge, vertically aligned touch screen with a Google-based interface, which features updated visuals and a reorganized menu. The S60, like the rest of Volvo's lineup, has abandoned the Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription names of its previous trim levels in favor of the more standard Core, Plus, and Ultimate designations.
Volvo introduced the S60 sedan in 2001 as a replacement for the S70, which was growing old. Designers made traction control, an emergency trunk release handle, and Emergency Brake Assistance standard in 2002. For 2005, the Volvo S60 received updates to the front fascia, bumper, grille, headlamps, and lower rocker sills, along with LED taillights. Less noticeable changes for the same year were redesigned front seats, flat-blade wipers, and adjustments to the option packages and trim levels.
The 2008 S60 saw new front fascias once again, along with a new tire pressure monitoring system and stability control. For 2009, a long list of features that had previously been optional became standard, including wood trim, a power glass sunroof, and sport leather seats. The Volvo S60 is currently in its second generation, which began in 2010. The 2013 S60 saw a major refresh, bringing it closer to the current model you will find new at your Virginia dealership.
